Dear DLSA Members:

This newsletter is one way that your Board shares some of our work with the entire membership of the Association. We hope that you find it informative. The Board has had another active year, with numerous matters capturing our attention, includingseveral that are described further in this  newsletter. The Dennison/McClendon property, Lake Michigan water levels, the International Upper Great Lakes Study, Lake Shore repairs and emergency access, and concerns with rental properties have been on nearly every Board agenda and we have also been following Lake Kalamazoo dredging and the Presbyterian Camp situations. For those of you who winter elsewhere, be sure to catch up on any of these items by perusing the various newsletter articles. Thanks to David Swam, President of the Saugatuck Dunes Coastal Alliance, for the Denison article and to various Board members for the other contributions.

We have also been busy planning this year’s Summer Social and the Annual Meeting. And I want to let you know that we will try something different come August as the Annual Meeting will be on a Thursday evening rather than a Saturday morning. Mark your calendars for August 5 and plan to attend your Association’s Annual meeting. More later on the agenda.

At the same time, also mark your calendar for July 17 which is when the Summer Social will be held. Once again, we will be at the Saugatuck Yacht Club. The Summer social is always a lot of fun with great fellowship and excellent food, so we hope to see you there. You might go to our website to see the good time attendees had last summer!

Speaking of the website, it has changed!! Thanks to Board member Jay Hernly’s desire to learn about web mastering, we now have a new web site and it is pretty nifty!  In addition to music, great photos, and links to various news sources, there is lots of information about the Association and the surrounding area.  You can even keep track of the weather at Oval Beach AND you can pay your annual membership dues!  Go the DLSA website (www.douglaslakeshoreassociation.com) to see the results of Jay’s good work. The Board is thrilled with his effort and the guidance that local resident Erin Wilkinson gave him during his “web master” short course. When you next go to the web site, also be sure to view Erin’s outstanding pictures.  Click on Photo Montage and then on the category of pictures you want to review.  Incidentally, if you come to a section of the web site that requires a password, it is Douglas77, and this password is case sensitive.

In closing, I want to say it has been a pleasure to work with the DLSA Board. The Board is committed to maintaining the quality of life we enjoy in this area and that makes our work especially meaningful. I know that you also appreciate that work!
